Was born in Gashua Bade Local Government, Yobe State.

He was born in year 13th March, 1967, attended Ilamiya Primary School (Hassan Abuja Gashua). He attended his Secondary School at Arabic Teachers College Maiduguri Borno State in 1985 – 1991), and proceeded to Aminu Kano School of Islamic and Legal Studies Kano, where he obtained his Diploma in civic law in 1998.

Alh. Musa Yahaya Maikifi further his Education in Bayero University, Kano where he obtained his Advance Diploma in Public Administration, and BSc. (Hons) on political science, he also acquired postgraduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration at the same University.
